The mission of the Goochland Farmers Market is to inspire our community to live in a way that nurtures our farmers, enhances our environment, supports creativity and educates consumers. By providing a sustainable marketplace, we stimulate the economy and raise awareness of the need to strengthen the connections between our land, our health and our future.
Our History:
The Goochland Farmers Market started out as a project for the
Center for Rural
Culture. The question was raised by its board
members – “What does it mean to be rural?”

Our Market Manager:
Jane Conner, Market Manager
Jane Conner has over eleven years of experience working with nonprofits, special events and community outreach. As the Manager of The Poe Museum, she was instrumental in marketing the Museum’s garden as a venue for weddings. It was there she obtained a Certificate of Achievement in Nonprofit Management from Virginia Commonwealth University. She went on to work as a Program Administrator for VCU Outreach Programs and returned to the nonprofit realm as an Education Resource Coordinator for The READ Center, a not-for-profit adult literacy program in Richmond. This is her second season with the Goochland Farmers Market.
Her love of community and interest in supporting local and sustainable agriculture drew her to her current position as Market Manager. Growing up in Roanoke, she frequently shopped at The Historic Roanoke City Market and developed an appreciation for local farmers, artisans and musicians. She enjoys cooking and container gardening.
