January 1st, 2008 2008 GFM Sponsorship Cover Letter 2008 GFM Sponsorship Agreement 2008 GFM Sponsorship Opportunities Dear Potential Farmers Market Sponsor: The 2007 Farmers Market Season is now over and was by all accounts a terrific success. This year, our second full season, we had 25 participating vendors. Total sales were up by 24% over last year. Average sales per vendor per week were up 114%. We had 28% more customers than last year. With the support of the 2007 Sponsors, the Goochland Farmers Market (GFM) was able to advertise in the local press and gain much needed media attention in the process. Many wonderful articles were published about our market (click on the link to view several articles: A Growing Market In Goochland, Farmers Market Kicks Off Painting Contest). This year, the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS) participated in a regional "Virginia Grown" Campaign and was able to call additional media attention to the GFM by sending out ValPak coupons to targeted households in the Greater Richmond area, redeemable for a free Virginia Grown Tote Bag. As a result of this promotion by VDACS, attendance at the GFM by non-local residents grew appreciably. We look forward to the continued support of the area's regional farmers markets next year from VDACS. The Center for Rural Culture is a 501c (3) non-profit organization whose mission is to sustain the rural culture of our community by educating, promoting and inspiring. Our organization has worked very hard to bring the Goochland Farmers Market to fruition. Helping to sustain the rural culture of Goochland County and the surrounding Piedmont area is our organization's main focus. To do this, we need to keep some of our land in agricultural use. What better way to do this than to teach farmers and artisans to earn a living by making use of their agricultural land and to provide a venue for them to offer their products to the community?
