Summer Celebration of Local
Time & Location
About the Event
Sandy Fisher of Brookview Farm in Goochland will be our special guest at this event. Sandy inspired a group of neighbors to support and nurture sustainable connections with land and agriculture. His deep passion and great work eventually resulted in the creation of The Center for Rural Culture (CRC).
As climate change and development increase the pressure on forests and farms, Sandy has taught us not to underestimate the importance of local action. This includes purchases from organizations like the CRC’s online farmers market, Fall Line Farms & Local Roots (FLF&LR). He has taught us that “keeping it local” has a real and positive impact on rural economies. Sandy’s leadership has helped us find positive ways to sustain the forests and small farms that keep our communities green and rural.
This event will be quite the party! It’s a joyful acknowledgement of Sandy’s work and an opportunity to help the CRC carry it on. It’s an occasion for connecting with neighbors and friends while enjoying food, libations, and great music. All local, of course!
Chef Kenny Bendheim has designed a special menu that showcases the produce and fare of FLF&LR market producers. Powhatan’s favorite local band, Hoosier Daddy, will have you dancing (or at least tapping your toes and singing along). And there will be local libations, including sangria from Elk Island Winery and craft summer brews from Kindred Spirits. The event will take place in a lovely bucolic setting in Powhatan County. Many thanks to Dale Call and Kenneth Bendheim for making this possible.
Regular tickets are $75 each, and the quantity is limited.
