"The biggest surprise and brightest performer in the troupe was guest guitarist Ivan Appelrouth, a Richmond musician whose easygoing appearance belied the intensity of his improvisations"

Richmond Times Dispatch

Ivan Appelrouth (pronounced "Apple-ruth") grew up in Richmond, VA listening to AM radio and absorbing all the musical influences of his southern roots, then throughout his teens and into high school immersing and dedicating himself more and deeper to his first real love, the blues, discovering BB King, T-Bone Walker, Freddie King, Charlie Christian, Robert Johnson, and players and influences far too numerous to mention.

He played his first road gig at 19 with the Nighttown Blues Band at the famous Double Door Inn in Charlotte, NC, during a time when he would become closely acquainted with the cream of the New England blues scene, establishing a close relationship with perhaps his biggest and most direct influence, Duke Robillard.

From that point forward, Ivan has worked with many of the renowned figures in the world of Blues, backing a list of performers including: James Thunderbird Davis, Nappy Brown, Floyd Dixon, Earl King, Billy Boy Arnold, Jimmy "T-99" Nelson, Jimmy McCracklin, and Mick Fleetwood. He has toured and/or recorded with Jumpin' Johnny and the Blues Party, Sugar Ray and the Bluetones, the Nighthawks, Big Joe and the Dynaflows, Marion James, and L'il Ronnie and the Grand Dukes.
