Join us September 9th for food, music and a hands-on workshop at Huguenot Springs in Powhatan.
Katie Hoffman will lead 2 sessions:
9:30 AM to 12:00 PM
Fermenting on the Frontier
Even if you already know how to ferment sauerkraut, this session is for you. You'll leave with recipes, handouts, and insight into the role of fermenting in Appalachian history and foodways. And there's a free tasting just before lunch!
2:00 PM to 4:00 PM
Birds and Ballads:
Sharing the Appalachian Ballad Tradition
During this interactive session, Katie will perform some of her favorite traditional Appalachian songs and ballads. We'll have some lively conversations about the importance of these ancient songs and their influences on American music.
